Think your VPN makes you invisible online? Not always. A few default settings can still reveal what you’re doing — even when the VPN is on.

First, check for DNS leaks. If your VPN isn’t routing DNS requests through the tunnel, your internet provider can still see the websites you try to visit.

Second, look at split tunneling. It’s useful, but it sends some apps outside the VPN. That can be a privacy win for streaming — or a privacy mistake if you forget it’s enabled.

Third, turn on the kill switch. If your VPN drops, this feature blocks your connection so your real IP address doesn’t slip out for a second.
